Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" music video caused a lot of controversy. In fact, the final product actually had to be modified because the content was deemed insensitive to Muslims.
"At 01.15 into the video a man is shown being burned, whilst wearing a pendant (also burned) forming the word 'Allah' which is the Arabic word for God," Shazad Iqbal wrote in a Change.org petition. "Such goes to show, that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames."
As a result, the pendant was removed from the man's neck in a modified version of the video. It seems, however, that "Dark Horse" has offended more than just one religious group.
In a new lawsuit filed against the singer, Christian rapper Flame claims that Katy not only ripped off his 2008 track "Joyful Noise" for her controversial single, he also alleges that she tarnished the song with "witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery."
We have to say, we listened to both songs back-to-back and the beat does sound kind of similar. Check 'em out and tell us what you think.
