One Direction's skyrocketing success is about to land the boys a very lucrative distinction: the world's first billion dollar boy band.

So yes, all that 1D merchandise you see--the dolls, makeup, fragrance and nail polish, posters, books, etc.--and the concerts and albums, of course, are helping to pad their bank accounts quite nicely.

Business Insider crunched the numbers and it looks like Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis are on track to gross $1 billion in 12 months.

According to the site, "the table stakes have been increased dramatically, and based on our back-of-the-envelope calculations, the hottest band on the planet could be the first billion dollar boy band when 2014 is in the books."

And in case all of the merch and concerts aren't big enough big business, the guys are sealing the deal with the hotly anticipated movie, This Is Us, opening later this month.

Concert ticket sales account for "over 50% of gross revenue," the site explains, with next year's "Where We Are" stadium tour set to really rake in the bucks.

Here's how 1D is on course to hit that $1 billion:

Total concert gross sales: $457,500,000

Total records gross sales: $300,000,000

Total movie gross sales: $150,000,000

Total DVD sales: $15,000,000

Total other (merchandise, fragrance, etc.): $67,500,000
