While we know Cory went to rehab earlier this year and by all accounts appeared to be healthy and committed to sobriety, we can never know what state he was truly in.

A source told Eonline.com's Marc Malkin, "He was super committed to getting sober. He would say this was his last chance."

The insider shared that Cory continued to attend 12-step meetings after rehab, noting, "He was worried about the press around it," adding, "But he knew he had to do this because his life was depending on it."

Us Weekly reports that Cory's death was an absolute shock to his family and friends, with a source telling the site he spoke with the actor just two weeks ago and "He sounded good...Never saw this coming."

Indeed, TMZ.com posted video footage of Cory and Lea at LAX last month--and Cory looked happy and healthy.

Two days before his death, Cory had dinner with Maureen Webb, the co-founder of Project Limelight Society. She told People.com, "He looked so good, so healthy."

Cory dined with Maureen and his manager, with Maureen noting, "I hadn't seen him look that good in a long time."

Adam Shankman, who directed episodes of Glee, spoke with CNN about talking with Cory just one day before he was found dead.

He said, "I had several interactions with him yesterday where he said that he was doing amazing. He even said I am feeling fantastic. I'm like everybody else, really devastated and confused by what happened."
