NeNe Leakes' Dog Rescued by Beverly Hills Cop: It Was Playa's Fault!

Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes received the VIP (very important pet) treatment from the Beverly Hills Police Department. When her adorable Yorkie, Playa, became locked inside her car--along with the vehicle's keys--the actress summoned help from 90210's Finest.

But don't blame the vivacious The New Normal actress for dereliction of doggy duty: Playa locked himself in the car!

As NeNe told us at Wednesday's PaleyFest panel for her Ryan Murphy sitcom, the "ruff" ordeal began while running errands with Greg, her ex-husband/boyfriend (it's complicated!). While she shopped, Greg waited outside in the car with Playa.

"He was sitting at a meter that had expired," she explained, "so he got out of the car to put a quarter in. He left the car running, and Playa jumped up and pressed the lock button!"

Fortunately, Playa was comfortable while he waited almost half an hour to be rescued. "We had the window down a little bit," NeNe told us, adding, "I'm glad it wasn't hot."

If anything, NeNe's furry friend was just confused. "Playa was just looking at us like, 'What is wrong with y'all?" she laughed. "Like why aren't y'all in the car?"

Was it really an accident, or was Playa deliberately trying to steal the limelight from another doggy diva? After all, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump's pampered Pomeranian, Giggy, couldn't have been too far away.
