You Go, Girl: Jennifer Lawrence Makes a Smart Point About Hollywood Body Standards

Comic-Con International 2015 - Day 1
Jennifer Lawrence isn't shy about telling the world that she thinks Hollywood's beauty and body standards are total BS. After all, this is the actress who was once told that she wasn't skinny enough to play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games by a New York Times critic - she knows that there are plenty of pressures put on women to conform to a certain look. So when someone pointed out that plenty of A-list actresses aren't very underweight, our girl J. Law shot back with a comment that makes a ton of sense - even if it's so, so sad. At a panel at ComicCon, J. Law took the time to discuss a recent conversation she had with someone about Hollywood body standards, and she made an awesome point:

I had a conversation with somebody about the struggles with weight in the industry-I know that's something I talk nonstop about. And they were saying, 'All of the main movie stars aren't very underweight.' I said, 'Yeah, because once you get to a certain place, people will hire you. They just want you to be in the movie, so they don't care.' It's more about the struggle for actors and actresses who have not made it to a certain place, and there's a lot of pressure.

Jennifer's point is spot on - after all, it is true that some of the older, more established actresses in Hollywood don't have to be stick thin in order to get roles, even though I would argue that most of the top actresses in the industry still conform to a certain standard of beauty and body image. J. Law may be at the height of her fame with multiple franchises and an Oscar under her belt, but what about the up-and-coming actresses in Hollywood? If they don't look "the part," they may never get their first big role - regardless of their level of talent.

J. Law is lucky that her career offers her some sort of freedom, but it's not exactly like these standards go away just because certain women are able to rise above them. Jennifer has talked about casting agents and producers who have encouraged her to diet when she wasn't yet THE Jennifer Lawrence, and I'm sure there are countless actresses in Hollywood who feel that level of pressure on the daily. I'm glad that J. Law recognizes that she's one person who might be able to make a difference in how we think - now we need even more people in the industry to take a stand.

Did Frankie Grande Diss Selena Gomez? Why He's Hating 'Good For You'

Frankie Grande disses Selena Gomez song
It sounds like Ariana Grande's brother, Frankie Grande, isn't such a big fan of Selena Gomez's new song. But was this shade really necessary?

Frankie has no love for Selena's "Good For You," taking aim at the song lyrics and message (though Sel has said it's about being empowered and "feeling sexy and beautiful"). Frankie shared a Snapchat video showing him driving with the song playing in the background - while he rolled his eyes. He wrote: "how about look good 4 URSELF?"

He didn't stop there, either, taking to Instagram to launch into a hella shady shade at Selena, writing: "Look good for YOURSELF, and let that inner confidence and self-worth be the thing that attracts and pleases your partner. Attract someone who thinks self-esteem is hot, not someone who likes to be catered and pandered to. Don't show them how proud you are to be theirs, show them how proud you are to be YOURS. Never allow your own self worth to rely on the opinions of others, for if you do you will live much of your life in disappointment. Shine bright like a you."

He had a lot to say and yeah, we get his point. But we don't think Selena's song deserves all the hate he's floating since she also sings about self-confidence.

Shine bright like a you. ✨

Selena seemed to have a comeback of sorts for Frankie's diss, posting a pic on Instagram with the caption: "Kill. Em. With. Kindness.." Was it directed at Frankie though?

Homeless Piano Player Offered $30,000 College Scholarship

Tickling the ivories on the streets of Florida just earned one homeless man a full college scholarship.

When 51-year-old Donald Gould sat down for an impromptu piano solo on a Sarasota street in late June, he probably had no idea that video of his melodic cover of Styx's Come Sail Away would strike a chord with so many people. After local ABC affiliate WWSB-TV aired footage of his performance, it racked up more than 100,000 views within 24 hours.

Amongst those moved by Donald's beautiful rendition of the song were members of the staff Michigan's Spring Arbor University (SAU), who decided to gift him with a $30,000 scholarship.

In an official statement to WWSB-TV, SAU's vice president for enrollment and marketing Malachi Crane said, "Offering him the scholarship was an easy decision for us to make because of who we are as a Christian university." He continued, "We have seen countless students and lives impacted by the transformational education we provide and know that Donald has a unique gift for music that he can use to change lives."

USA Today reports that Donald begin studying music at SAU in 1990 but didn't have the funds to continue with classes. After losing his wife in 1998, he began to struggle with substance abuse.

While a free education certainly has the potential to change Donald's life, for now he is focused on sobriety and attaining stability with the help of a life coach.

Hopefully we'll hear more beautiful music from Donald in the near future.

Why Some Women are Burning Their Split Ends Instead of Trimming Them

Young woman looking at split ends. Damaged long hairWhy bother with trimming those pesky split ends when you can just burn them off with a lit candlestick?

Before you dismiss us with a side-eye, please believe that this isn't our version of evil, underhanded Mean Girls-inspired beauty advice. Believe it or not, it's actually a Brazilian beauty technique called "velaterapia," otherwise referred to as "candle-cutting." According to Marie Claire, the process has been around since the 1960s. Stylists begin by twisting sections of the hair and then burning the split ends that stick out, before following up with a deep conditioning treatment. The process supposedly works by opening hair follicles, which promotes overall moisture retention, and is believed to be more effective than a routine trim.

In other words, it's out with the scissors and in with the sizzle.

Among those brave enough to endure the follicle-flaming procedure is Brazilian supermodel Alessandro Ambrosio, who shared a photo of herself in the midst of receiving the treatment.

10-Year-Old Phoenix Lil' Mini's "Truffle Butter" Freestyle is Everything

If you're already familiar with 10-year-old dancing phenom Phoenix "Lil' Mini," then you know these two things to be true: She has some major swag, and there's nothing small about her talent.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, the 10-year-old dancer absolutely slays every single step of her freestyle routine to Nicki Minaj's "Truffle Butter."
Seriously, you guys - she's amazing and it's impossible not to become obsessed with her signature poppin' and lockin'. From the start of the video, Lil' Mini captivates us with her dancing (and her attitude), which is so precise and impressive that it left us completely marveling at the performance.

For those who are completely baffled by her skill level, realize that she's already way ahead of the game. Please check her track record of killing it on the dance floor, starting with this video of Lil' Mini grooving to Silento's "Watch Me (Whip/NaeNae)," which is still one of our faves.

In her latest video, Lil' Mini may be flying solo, but we're already imagining potential collaborations for the pint-sized dancer. Let's start with a cameo in a Nicki Minaj video. She totally deserves it, right? (C'mon, Barbz - make it happen).

In the meantime, we'll just be waiting for Lil Mini's next mic drop moment.

Bet You Didn't Notice This Huge Star's Cameo on 'Gossip Girl'

Good morning Upper-East siders, Gossip Girl here...

It's been a while since we last heard those words coming from the lips of the totally gorgeous Kristen Bell, given that this December marks the third year anniversary of the show's final episode. I know what you're thinking, What! Three years already? Remember when we would wait for a new episode of Gossip Girl every week just so we could get a glimpse of Chuck Bass' dreamyness? Oh, those were the days.

Throughout the show's six marvelous seasons a lot of A-list celebs made guest appearances. You might remember Hilary Duff, who played Olivia Burke, the movie star of the moment who decided to enroll into NYU to get a traditional college experience. Rachel Zoe played herself and accidentally got "showered" with chocolate fondue at Blair's birthday party; Tory Burch interviewed Serena when she was looking for a job. And how could we forget the fashion world's favorite darling, Tyra Banks, who made a cameo on season 3 playing Ursula, a major motion picture actress with self-esteem issues?

But there's one celeb I'm pretty sure you never noticed, probably because she wasn't as famous as she is now, and that starlet is the one and only...Karlie Kloss.

Our Victoria's Secret favorite angel was featured on the premiere of season 4,"Belles du Jour"; she even had a few lines! Karlie's scene takes place at the Fashion's Night Out party that was held at the Van Der Woodsen's.

Take a look! But don't blink; you might miss it.

The First Thing Kylie Jenner Plans to Do When She's "Legal"

Kylie Jenner turns 18 next month and the reality star is getting pretty excited for her milestone birthday.

Along with the usual stuff, like being able to vote, get a tattoo, buy a lottery ticket (as if she needs to!) and the other things that sound way more exciting when you're 17.5 than when you're actually 18, she'll be doing some other cool stuff.

For starters, she'll be moving into her $2.7 million mansion. Not exactly the way most of us started out our 18th year of life, but hey, good for her!

A lot of people were also wondering if she would go public with 25-year-old rumored boyfriend Tyga, especially because they've been less shy about sharing their hangouts on social media as her 18th birthday approaches. She didn't mention that, but she did say that she has something else planned once she's "legal"...she wants to go on a vacation with her friends.

"When the first thing I want to do is maybe have like a birthday party and then maybe go on a trip with just my friends," she told E! News at the launch for her new hair extensions. "I'm legal, so I can go on a trip legally without a chaperone, so that'll be fun, just a girl trip."

Sounds fun! Can we come?

No? Ok, maybe next year...

I'm Excited for R5 to Perform at the Teen Choice Awards

R5 at the 42nd Annual American Music AwardsThe Teen Choice Awards is set to air the day after my birthday. It'll be like I get a birthday present from TV too - especially if all of my favorites win: One Direction, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Demi Lovato and The Mockingjay Part 1.

I looked through the Teen Choice 2015 Wiki today. I was SO excited when I saw that R5 is going to be performing that night. "Let's Not Be Alone Tonight" is one of my favorite songs of the year. I yell at my sister every time she's skipping commercials on Disney, and I see the music video coming on. I can't wait to hear them sing it live on TV.

The three Lynch brothers, blonde bombshell sister and best friend drummer are five of my favorite people in Hollywood. They're just a bunch of humble sweeties. They're a group I'd love to be able to hang with. Even though Ross is busy with Austin & Ally and his DCOMs, he still makes time to be a brother and a band member. I'm so glad to see him going as far as he is, along with the rest of their band.

During the month before the Teen Choice Awards, I'm going to wait impatiently to watch them perform live and wish them all the best.

8 Problems You Experience When You Rock Long Nails

Kylie Jenner's Long NailsBad-a** girls like Rihanna and Kylie Jenner make having long nails look so easy, but when it comes to rocking lengthy fingernails, there are long nail woes to keep in mind. Trust us, if you're accustomed to keeping your nails short and pristine, you might want to consider the following before jumping ship to nail tips and stiletto manicures.

Here's what it's like to go from short to long nails.

You Can't Stop Staring

Looking At Long NailsWhen you first go from short to long, all you'll want to do is look down at your hands. It'll be quite an obsession actually. "Are those my hands?" "I can't tell if I like them or not." So many thoughts.

Expect a Lot of Texting Errors

You thought you were a bad texter before. Well, what happens when your nails get in the way of your fingers? Autocorrect can't save you from long nails!

Forget About Using the Computer

You will literally have to learn how to type from scratch. Simple assignments will take forever.

Getting Dressed Sucks

Buttoning those already hard to get on jeans will become even more of a pain. Your fingers just don't work the way they used to.

Using Your Hands at All Sucks

Long Nails
Putting your contacts on, picking up a coin you dropped, fixing your hair, putting on eyelashes, scratching your eyes, eating popcorn... The list goes on.

You'll Do Weird Things With Your Hands

You still haven't gotten used to your nails, so you'll awkwardly show them off in ways you wouldn't before. Maybe you want everyone to experience your glammed out hands for themselves? Or perhaps you just don't know how to work your fingers anymore? Whatever it is, it's weird.

You Become Your Nails

You're starting to feel a bit normal with your long nails - you can now send a text without errors. With the added sass long nails give you, no one can tell you your nails aren't fab. As a matter of fact, you're just as great as your nails.

Long Nails, Don't Care

Don't worry, eventually you'll get used to your new nails. You'll wear them flawlessly and the haters will hate. But you won't care cause you look awesome no matter what.

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - July 11, 2015Truly terrifying! Gigi Hadid is giving up her beautiful Soho apartment, worth $2.45 million, due to scary incidents with an alleged stalker. A man named Marcell Porter who's obsessed with the model was arrested after he managed to get into her building, TMZ reports.

Despite the fact that her building has security, he's tried to enter numerous times and was successful in getting past them on June 29. He supposedly posted these creepy messages about Gigi and her friends on his Facebook, according to police, who arrested him on one count of 4th degree stalking.
Celebrity Sightings In New York City - June 17, 2015"Gigi I'm at the hotel in queens. Trying to find the gym you went to while working. Love you with the purple pants and shades my soulmate. Tell your friends I said hi. Especially taylor," one public Facebook post reads. Hopefully, her new guy Joe Jonas can keep her safe!

"Gigi are you back in nyc? i read u were on the plane. i'm at the library by bowery," another one says. The 20-year-old is understandably freaked out by the incidents and is taking no chances. She's already put up her current pad for sale. Maybe she can crash with Taylor Swift while she's hunting for a new home?

'Suits' Season 5 Premiere Recap: Can Openers and Mocha Fudge Cakes

Suits - Season 5Season 5 | Episode 1 | "Denial" | Aired June 24, 2015

When I heard about Suits for the first time (before it premiered in the U.S. - I'm from the Philippines), I thought it was literally about suits, so I didn't put much of attention to it. It wasn't until the first season was over that my friend told me to try and watch it. I borrowed the external hard drive from him and got hooked after just watching the first episode. I think I finished watching the whole season in three days. It was something new that I had never seen before. It gave me the chance to look at what happens inside a firm like that, how they process it, how they look at each case. I learned a lot of new words like "pro bono case," "deposition" and "paralegal." Fast track to season 5, a lot has happened, and it is getting interesting.

The show opens with Harvey (Gabriel Macht) narrating his dream to Dr. Agard (Christina Cole) to talk about "how he feels" about Donna (Sarah Rafferty) leaving him and going to work for Louis (Rick Hoffman). Harvey has a hard time sleeping since he is suffering from insomnia. He asks the doctor for prescriptions, so he can be able to sleep, but sadly the doctor won't give him any until Harvey tells her the whole story, which flashbacks to six weeks earlier.

Donna gave Harvey two week's notice to help him find a new secretary. But, of course, being a proud lawyer that he is, Harvey tells Donna that she will be back and tells her not to bother finding him one, to which Donna replies, "That is not how two adults who care about each other move on." Harvey's answer? "Two adults who care about each other don't move on at all." #Ouch
Suits - Season 5After the opening theme, we see that Harvey is washing his face in a sink, but the therapist says that he was washing his mouth after vomiting because he has been suffering from panic attacks, because his beloved Donna was not with him anymore. Needing a distraction, he agrees to help a client save his company from bankruptcy if he agrees Harvey to have 20 percent of his corporation. Sadly that didn't help to improve his mood, and he answers coldly to Mike (Patrick J. Adams) when he tells him about his engagement to Rachel (Meghan Markle). Mike later learns about the situation from Rachel, and they decide to cut Harvey some slack, resulting to Rachel doing Donna's job.

Harvey screws up the case he is handling, which makes him very angry and want to blame Rachel for not notifying him about it. Mike stands up for Rachel and tells him to swallow his pride and ask Donna for help. But Harvey already did that, but Donna doesn't want to, citing the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" defense. This gives Harvey another panic attack, which makes him realize he might need help, which is why he's on this therapist's couch in the first place.
Suits - Season 5
With Harvey unfocused, Jessica (Gina Torres) goes to Harvey's office and asks if he would like to undo what he did. But Harvey declines and says, "If Donna wants to work for Louis, I'm not gonna force her to work for me." But Harvey still believes that Donna will come back to work for him. We can see from there that Donna and Harvey balance each other's personality. (That is why I totally love them. #Darvey)

Dr. Agard tells Harvey that she is not giving Harvey another prescription but will give him a sample packet to ensure that he will come back. She also tells Harvey that he will only overcome his panic attacks when he accepts that Donna left him.

When Donna tells Louis that she will become his secretary, Louis, being an insecure and a paranoid person, is hesitant. He's scared that Harvey might convince her to change her mind because he admitted to Donna what happened when Mike agreed to join his team but immediately changed his mind and quickly returned to Harvey, wasting the cake he was giving to Mike. Donna promises Louis that she will never leave him. Their newfound relationship of boss-secretary is put to test when Louis goes to collect some papers from Donna's old printer, which is located in her previous table near Harvey's.

In an attempt to have Donna back, Harvey tells Louis to give Donna a can opener, which is their "sacred" item. Anxiety sets in for Louis, and it worsens when he finds a list of secretary replacements with his name in it. He thinks that Donna is already planning to leave and worries even more that he and Donna will never have what she and Harvey had. In order to protect himself, he lashes out on Donna and makes her work overtime, causing her to miss a night at the theater. When Donna sees the can opener, she figures that is what made Louis snapped. She goes to Louis's office and tells him that she does not want this kind of relationship, saying that communication is a two-way street. Louis asks Donna what the can opener was for because it still very important to her. I think she didn't want to say what the true meaning of that can opener is, so she tells him that it is a ritual they do before they go into trial. Louis wants one, but Donna tells him to wait until they win a case before they think of one. When they do won a trial, Donna gives Louis a mocha fudge cake that looks exactly like the one Louis was going to give Mike back then.
Suits - Season 5Harvey's inability to focus well when Donna left him causes him to screw up a client's company. Instead of blaming Rachel, we get a glimpse of a rare moment when Harvey takes the blame and tells the client that change is coming whether we like it or not. Having that moment of clarity, Harvey makes peace with himself that Donna might not come back anymore. After talking to the client later that night in the midst of Donna-Louis winning celebration, Harvey goes to Donna and asks for the list of secretaries she was supposed to give to him. Seeing their post-happy-moment, Harvey anticipates panic attack, but when he goes to the bathroom, he flushes the pills down the toilet, thinking he will be fine without it. (But we both know it's not.)

We can see throughout each season that they are taking Louis more seriously now. Harvey and Mike still banter from time to time from movie lines to their sense of humor. After watching this episode, I felt bad for Harvey having Donna quit her secretarial job and have her go to Louis to be his secretary, but I was very happy for Mike and Rachel for getting engaged. Hopefully we get to see how will Harvey cope without Donna in the next episodes.

Your Mission: Support Your Local Bookstores

I went into one of my favorite secondhand bookstores in May, and I still remember the sound of my heartbreaking. Why? The owner had told me she was closing down. The only silver lining I had was my favorite secondhand bookstore, which is just a 10-minute drive away from my house.

I drove over to that store just after hearing about the other one. I get along really well with the girl who owns the place, and we discussed the one that was closing down as I picked out a couple of books to buy from her. I follow her on Facebook, and she posted a new status last week. Now my heart truly is breaking. Her doors are closing as well. I only have until September to get as many books as possible from her.

I live in Mobile, Ala. After Lynn closes her doors, other than Wal-Mart and Target, we will only have one store to buy books. That's a Book-a-Million in West Mobile. Our second BAM closed last year, and all of our other chain book stores have been closing in the past 10 years.

I know we're all getting into books on Kindle and other e-readers, but nothing beats the smell of a paperback book. The smell of walking into a bookstore or a library is my favorite ever. I even fell asleep in the library the other day.

The only way we're going to keep our bookstores running, especially our secondhand stores, is if we get up off of our computers and walk inside one of them. You can find good deals on used books that still look brand new, so why not do it?

I'm asking you today, to take just a little leap, and support your local bookstores.

11 Gifs That Perfectly Explain Your Netflix Problem

Generation ySo work was a mess again. The dog is sick, the kids got into your good makeup, your friends are being a little too clingy, your boyfriend/girlfriend is being a little too distant, and you're too tired to do anything about it. There's only one thing left to do, my friend...turn on some good ole' Netflix.

And while a movie or two here and there is say, I don't know, normal, you might be a little more like me, which means you might have a problem. What's that saying about too much of a good thing???

Here are some signs you might be addicted to Netflix:

1. When someone references a show and you immediately respond by referencing all of your favorite quotes/moments from random episodes throughout all of the seasons.
2. When you receive a notification about a new show/movie being added to the queue and your face is all...
3. When words like "queue" and "streaming" are a part of your everyday vocabulary.
4. When you're constantly coming up with inane excuses as to why you should stay home from work...to watch Netflix.
5. When you start to tell yourself that this is the last episode, but the show ends and you're just like...
6. When you start defending your Netflix viewing to anyone who will listen.
7. When you start negotiating priorities...with yourself.
8. When someone asks you if you watch Netflix and your immediate response is...
9. When you realize you've watched every episode of a new Netflix original...in under 24 hours.

10. When you realize that you have absolutely no social life (other than your relationship with your Netflix account, that is.)
11. When your computer freezes and all you can think is...

Not that that will even slow you down. Just reboot your computer and you can start your love affair with Netflix all over again. Because, yes, it's a problem, but it's a problem we all can live with.

BBGV Interns: 5 Girls Entrusted With $10 Million

girls who fund internsGetting off the R train and feeling lost in the vastness of Manhattan, we looked at our phones and checked Google Maps again. We wondered, Are we here? Where is AOL? After asking three different people, we spotted a blue monster grinning at us, and our childhoods built on dial-up, NetZero, Dexter's Laboratory and That's So Raven inundated us. This is where AIM was made, we thought (about the popular original instant messenger) as we walked into the building that was 10 times our size. A feeling of lack of belonging washed over us. Fashionable, stern adults clad in heels and dress shoes milled about. As recent high school graduates, we could only offer smiles.

Before we knew it, we were squished into an elevator with the other sardines and whisked to the sixth
floor. Forty-five minutes early on a Monday morning after Fourth of July weekend, this was our first day at AOL BBG Ventures (BBGV), a venture capital firm that invests in consumer tech start-ups that have at least one female on the founding team (very #BUILTBYGIRLS!). We filed in one by one, and received Macbooks, a tote bag, a backpack filled with swag and four new sisters. When we were led to our desks, we smiled at each other with a mix of apprehension and glee, our new badges in tow - we belonged here. This would be our office for the next four weeks, AOL Manhattan office and the first week was in short: awesome.

On day one, we had our first meeting with Nisha Dua, who is a principal at BBGV (as well as general manager at Cambio, where some of our friends are doing an internship!) and associate Samantha Lynch where they introduced us to entrepreneurship and told us all about BBGV. Every week, start-ups pitch their ideas to BBGV. If Nisha and her partner Susan Lyne think it would be wise to invest money, then they go:
little boy throwing moneyThe money that the start-up receives is called "funding," which the team will proceed to use to develop their start-up. There are several stages of funding in which a company can receive funding. There is the angel round, the seed or early stage, then Series A, B, C, etc. BBGV comes in during the seed stage.

They spoke about the latest trends in technology. As teenagers who have grown up alongside the Internet, we were not surprised that one trend was smartphones. Other trends included convenience (because humans are lazy), more freelance workers (like Uber drivers), exceptional user experiences and the Internet of Things. In short, everything ever will be controlled by technology. Freaky, we know. As a generation in love with online shopping and convenience, it's no surprise that e-commerce was listed as a huge trend.

It was fascinating to hear about a few of BBGV's 16 total investments. Some cool ones included GlamSquad (aka Uber for styling/makeup), Sunshine (a crowdsourced weather app that uses the sensors in your phone) and Thesis, which is re-creating the high heel to make it more comfortable so that this doesn't happen:
But you know you can't wear high heels with unpolished toes, which is why we were so excited to meet Renee Robbie, co-founder of Lookbooker. We were practically like this:
But, actually, our excitement was more limited, because we couldn't necessarily jump up and down in the office, so we hid it in more of a...

Hell yeah, we cool.

Lookbooker is a start-up that makes it easier for people to find beauty salons (hair, waxing, etc.). People can then make an online appointment. How great is that? Our hair and everything will be on point ALL the time! And not like this:
Renee also taught us a bunch of things about entrepreneurship. For one thing, we learned that to make an idea happen, just do it. You can do anything if you put your mind to it, especially in the case of a start-up. We don't have to plan out every detail of our ideas and instead we should just have a go at it. As Renee said, "Don't wait for it all to fall into place!"

And we didn't. By Tuesday, we were already presented with our first investment opportunity.

Us? Five girls who just turned 18? Spend $10 million? No problem.
At Girls Who Fund, we eat cold hard cash in our sandwiches. #JK

But seriously, attending our first pitch alongside business magnate Susan, just two days after starting as interns at BBGV, was slightly overwhelming (in a good way). The first company was an independent fashion retailer. You could tell they were the real deal. The chief executive officer and chief operating officer didn't bat an eye as they threw out names like they were made of paper. It was hard to be critical.

We felt like this:

But we pretended to be more like this:

Because if we learned anything from Renee, it's that you need to be considerate, clear-sighted and calculated when handling money.

TGIF. Suddenly it was Friday, and we were on our way to visit Uber's New York City headquarters. They were gearing up for their beach bag giveaway and had tables covered with swag, right next to a closet filled with even more swag, #freetees. More importantly was the information we gained. We got to hear from Marketing Director Ed Casabian along with Engineer Erin Yaylali and Senior Technical Recruiter Kristen Caldwell.
Uber NYC Offices
Wait? How do we go from graduating high school to starting our own careers? Although the process may seem nearly impossible, every small step adds up. In our first week, we learned that simply incorporating our styles to fit a work environment, contacting other successful people in a field that interests us, never being afraid to take risks and stepping outside our comfort zones will set us on track towards a bright future.

Who knows? Somewhere along the process, we just might land a job in the heart of New York City.

5 Reasons Why Taylor Swift's Speak Now Tour SLAYED

Playful Taylor
I am a Taylor Swift tour veteran. I went to RED in July of 2013, and I'm very excited to be going to her 1989 World Tour this August! Although I had fun at RED and I know I'll love 1989, my favorite tour will forever be Speak Now. It was my first Taylor Swift concert, and the night we went, she blew me away. It was the last night of the entire tour, and I literally died when she came out, right then and there.

Of course I own the DVD, and I was watching the entire thing last night, four years later, and I just thought Wow, this tour was just FLAWLESS. It's the best one! Here are five reasons why the Speak Now World Tour slayed the existence of Swifties everywhere, including me.
Taylor Swift in Concert - New York

1. The Costumes

Say what you will about 1989's sparkly pantsuits, but the costumes for Speak Now were gorgeous beyond belief. Some of the costumes reside in Los Angeles at the Taylor Swift Grammy Museum Experience - which i'll be going to this August. My faves are the first and last dress she wore to sing the songs "Sparks Fly" and "Love Story." Each costume was unique and different, and fit each song like a glove.

2. The Stage

You can't have a flawless concert without an amazing stage, right? Lights flickered and sparks flew all around Taylor's giant stage, complete with a catwalk and a stage B, so she could reach her fans all the way in the back.

But she saved the best for last - during her last song, "Love Story," she got in a balcony and sang as she was carried around and above the entire stadium!

3. The Songs

I love her hit songs like "WANGBT," "Style" and "Shake it Off," but it's safe for me to say that the songs from Speak Now were some of the best she's ever written. "Sparks Fly," "Better than Revenge," "Haunted," "Last Kiss" and so many more -tbh "Long Live" still makes me cry.

4. The Guests

When I went to the show, the LAST thing I was expecting was guests! Nevertheless, Taylor brought out Selena Gomez (and I died again, #RIPME) and James Taylor, one of her favorite musicians. I can't wait to see who she brings to my 1989 show!
Playful Taylor

5. The Crowd

Fans ALWAYS go the extra mile for Taylor. When I went, I was screaming and crying and jumping and holding my little glow stick because I was beyond excited. So many people made signs, and there was never a silent moment in the show - not that there was in RED or 1989 either.

This was actually from the Fearless Tour (2009), but you get the idea.

Mentally stuck in the Speak Now era, forever and always.

North West Ruined Kim Kardashian's $4,500 Coat at the Movies

North West ruins Kim Kardshian's Lanvin coatPoprcorn problems! Her mom may be a total fashionista, but North West is just a kid who wants to eat snacks at the movies. Unfortunately, that means Kim Kardashian's designer coat got used as a napkin and was covered with greasy hand prints after taking North to see Minions with Kanye West this weekend.

The pregnant E! reality star's pink Lanvin coat costs $4,500 and those stains look like they're not coming out to us. North didn't seem to give AF about her mess, and was still happily munching away as she left the movies with KimYe. If something of ours that cost almost five grand got trashed, we'd feel like this:
Kim Kardashian cryingLuckily, Kim can easily afford another coat (or get another gifted to her for free from the designer) so that's why she probably looks so unconcerned. Must be nice!

10 Little Known Facts You Never Knew About 'Toy Story'

Woody and Buzz Lightyear Toy StoryIf you're like me, Andy, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang were more than just a part of a movie, they were a part of your childhood. You grew up, the same age as Andy, imagining yourself as a part of the story as the characters went on one adventure after another. You had the Toy Story action figures, you sang the songs and you even talked to your toys in hopes that they, like the ones in the movies, would one day talk back.

Well, this year is Toy Story's 20th anniversary (who else feels really old right now?), and I thought that I would provide you gals with the some awesome little known facts that I found about the amazing franchise that made Pixar the household name that it is today. Basically, leave it to BuzzFeed and Likes.com to find things that even we die hard fans have missed.

1. Buzz's first name was actually Lunar Larry, but it was changed to Buzz because, let's face it, Lunar Larry just doesn't have the same kick, ya know?
2. The voices behind the little green aliens are actually John Lasseter, the brains behind Toy Story, and his crew after breathing in helium from a bunch of balloons.
3. The original name of the movie was You Are a Toy, not as catchy, and soooo not accurate. Buzz and Woody aren't just toys; they're family!
4. Jim Carrey was originally supposed to play the voice of Buzz Lightyear, but the makers of the film found that it was too expensive to cast him. (That would've been an interesting movie, now wouldn't it? Let's just say, I'm glad they found Tom Hanks.)
5. According to Wide-Eyed Webs, we all could've been watching an entirely different movie. The first half of Toy Story was actually scratched and then re-written in under three months after the writers believed that the story line didn't fit, which kind of has me wondering. Does the first manuscript still exist, and where can I get a copy?
6. The books on Andy's shelves in all of the Toy Story movies are named after Pixar shorts, and the authors of said books are named after some of the Pixar crew. Don't you just love those guys?
7. Bo Peep was originally meant to be a Barbie doll, but Pixar couldn't get the rights for her in time for the first movie, which is literally proof that things really do happen for a reason (I mean, who wants to see Woody couple up with Barbie?!).
8. The original main character of the story was going to be Tinny, the little toy from the Pixar short Tin Toy that appeared in the late '80s. I mean, he's cute and all, but he's no Woody.
9. The first Toy Story movie is the only one of the three to have full opening credits. Guess they figured we knew all of their names by the second one.
10. Toy Story is the first Pixar movie to score 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Which means perfect, because, let's face it, that's exactly what this movie was.

Is Taylor Swift Upset With Selena Gomez for Hanging Out With Justin Bieber?

Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Justin BieberWe were all surprised when Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber reconcilled over the weekend. But, what did Sel's BFF, and ex-boyfriend-hater Taylor Swift think about their reunion...and PDA?

There have been several reports floating around online that T-Swift was super upset and disappointed with Selena for hanging out with the Biebs. As any BFF would, she reportedly thinks JB is toxic and that Sel needs to move on.

We can't say we disagree with that, but GossipCop.com is reporting that Taylor totally didn't give a crap about Jelena's hookup this weekend. She is obviously doing her tour thing right now. Does she even have time to think about their cray relationship? Probably not.

GossipCop.com says that their T-Swift source says that the story about her being pissed off about Jelena meeting up is totally not true. We can see that. If anything, don't you see Taylor as the understanding friend? We've all ran back to exes...

In case you missed the big news, Justin and Selena were spotted getting cozy poolside in Beverly Hills over the weekend. She was spotted sitting on his lap, instantly sparking those dating rumors...again.

Cara Delevingne plays guitar drums el hormiguero videoCara Delevingne has some serious talent - model, actress, singer...and she can play instruments, too? What can't she do, honestly?

In a recent interview for Spanish talk show El Hormiguero, Cara was totally put on the spot to show off her hidden talents. And she delivered like no other. We totally expected some "Mary Had a Little Lamb" ish, but our jaws dropped when she pulled out some seriously awesome guitar and drum playing chops.

If her Spanish guitar skillz weren't enough, she took the guitar behind her head to play "Sweet Home Alabama." Um. Yeah. We're totes impressed with our girl Cara.

While we've seen her rock out on the drums before, this time she seemed mega cute, saying, "Don't judge me," before totally slaying like a pro.

Is Khloe Kardashian Going to Be the Next 'Bachelorette'?

We all really want to see Khloe Kardashian find love. We were so happy for her when she was with Lamar Odom, and we know she was happy with him, but unfortunately that didn't work out. While some of us are still holding out hope that they get back together, Khloe seems to have moved on with her life.

After she split from Lamar, she dated French Montana on and off for a little while and most recently, she's been linked to NBA player James Harden. Still, we haven't seen anything get really serious since Lamar and it sounds like Khloe might have an unusual opportunity to look for love.

According to OK! Magazine, Khloe has been in talks for months with ABC executives and is considering going on The Bachelorette. "Khloe has definitely warmed up to the idea," a friend tells the mag. "She sees the opportunity as a great career move."

How so? "ABC has been throwing out a lot of big numbers because they think it's got 'surefire hit' written all over it." Apparently, she could make a cool $10 million off of the deal.

Talk about a sweet gig! We wish someone would pay us to go on a bunch of fabulous dates with a bunch of suitors vying for our love!
