It was No. 1 on Cambio Radio last week, and now Ke$ha's "Die Young" appears to have been yanked off of the radio airwaves.

Why? Because of the recent, horrible, shooting tragedy that occurred in Newtown, Conn.

According to TMZ (citing statistics from Mediabase), last Friday, when the shooting occurred, Ke$ha's catchy tune was sitting pretty in the No. 3 seat on the charts. It even beat out seemingly unstoppable Taylor Swift on our radio station.

By Monday, the song's listeners declined tremendously from 167 million to 148 million.

Such a precipitous decline in audience suggests that radio stations pulled the song from their playlists.

The last time a song plummeted like that on the charts was back in 2003, when the Dixie Chicks talked trash about President Bush.

Ke$ha has yet to respond to the radio ban although she did address the tragedy on Twitter, linking to a fund to help Sandy Hook victims.

"My heart goes out deeply to the people of Newtown, Connecticut," she wrote.

Do you think it was the compassionate thing to do for the radio stations to pull Ke$ha's song?

Tell us your thoughts in the Comments below.

UPDATE: Ke$ha has released a statement on Twitter saying, "I had my very own issues with "die young" for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

The singer is listed as a co-writer for the song. Click here to get the full story.
