Wow, who knew people were SO serious about their potato salad? Clearly, the lack of good potato salad was a culinary crisis that (up until this point), we had been totally unaware of.
Zack Danger Brown - that can't be his real name, can it? - was very realistic when he launched his Kickstarter campaign on July 3. He set a $10 goal for himself and he just wanted to make a good potato salad.
So far, he has over 3,000 backers who have helped him raise over $30,000 and the campaign still has over three weeks left.
If you're wondering why we're not quoting exact figures, it's because the numbers are constantly changing. Yesterday, E! News reported that he had already raised almost $50,000 and then that number tanked, but it seems to be holding pretty strong at the $30,000 mark.
The guy's promises are almost as ridiculous as the campaign. In fact, many of his pledge rewards include saying your name out loud while he's making the potato salad. He will be recording the potato salad-making process, so pledgers hoping for a shout-out can definitely hold him accountable on that front.
There are, however, some risks that come with investing in this campaign. Most notably, backers are promised a bite of the potato salad, which might not be that good after it's been shipped from his house in Ohio to wherever you live. Oh, and he's never made potato salad before. So, there's that. Enjoy!
