Something tells us the North Korean government won't be singing Seth Rogen and James Franco's praises anytime soon.After government officials caught wind of the trailer for their upcoming flick The Interview, a spokesman for dictator Kim Jong-un told the UK Telegraph it shows the "desperation of American society."
The film centers on a talk show host and a producer (James and Seth) who get the rare opportunity to travel to North Korea to interview its ruler. Before they're able to do that, the CIA enlists them as undercover agents to assassinate Kim Jong-un when they find out he is a fan of their celebrity interview program.
"There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society," Kim Myong-chol, executive director of The Centre for North Korea-US Peace told the mag. "A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy - Americans. In fact, President [Barack] Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well."
In spite of North Korea blasting the film, Kim Myong-chol told the mag Kim Jong-un still plans to see the movie when it is released. "Apparently Kim Jong Un plans on watching #TheInterview. I hope he likes it!!," Seth tweeted upon hearing the news, linking over to the Guardian's story about it.We wonder what Mr. Kim is going to think about the flick.
