"Coming home from work...I'm the luckiest dude in the world. No doubt," Ian wrote, posting an adorable photo of himself on Instagram laying with his dog Nietzsche and her pups.
The actor's caption took a serious turn, though, when he addressed the issue of sterilization for dogs and cats.
"However,we HAVE to develop species specific sterilization drugs for pups and kitties," he continued. "They are amazing, but we have too many in this world.Please help us!Please go to isfoundation.org and donate to my Birthday Project. I know it's a lot to ask but it will make such a huge impact and I'm so so grateful. Let your voice be heard for those who have NO VOICE."
Speaking of Ian's birthday project, in honor of his upcoming 35th birthday, the hottie environmentalist asked fans to donate $35 each to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation to help him continue to further his philanthropic efforts for animals and the environment.
