Why did they do that? Because of gay rights. The country reportedly wants to tighten restrictions on artist who support gay rights.
The Moscow Times has reported that Russian authorities decided to make entry more difficult for foreign performers following Madonna and Lady Gaga's open advocacy for LGBT equality in the wake of the country's controversial law banning the promotion of "nontraditional sexual relationships."
Officials in Russia have warned that they would take measures to keep celebrities perceived as pro-gay out of the country and it looks like that's exactly what they're doing with Selena! Lame!
