Ellen pointed out that Amber should do fine on DWTS since she dances on Glee. But Amber protested, "You know there are 11 other people that are camouflaging my bad dancing on Glee, and I am not as self-conscious. I am a little more self-conscious [on DWTS]. It is just me." And her partner Derek Hough of course!
Ellen begged Amber to make sure Derek takes off his shirt a lot this season, and she joked back, "That won't be a problem...he is always super sweaty and taking it off. It's sexy to you all, but it's gross to me."
Amber explained that the most difficult part of DWTS is the dancing (no surprise there)! She said, "It really is hard because you know I have rhythm. I can move, but to perfect it and have technique--that is not easy."
After hearing past celebrity contestants talk about the huge amount of practice time, Ellen asked Amber how she is balancing DWTS and her role on Glee. Amber explained that she has already finished filming the first episode of Glee as well as the tribute episode to the late Cory Montieth.
Ellen then asked (in the portion of the interview shown above) the question on everyone's mind: How hard was it to film that episode? Amber confessed, "In a way it was very therapeutic for us...because we got to sing and kind of express to [Cory]...how we felt about him...The fans are going to be able to say goodbye to Cory and say goodbye to Finn also. It is a tearjerker, but it is such a great episode."
Amber revealed that she indeed shed a few tears herself. "I did, [while] singing a song to him [Cory], a specific song that I am singing. It is very touching and people are going to recognize the song when I sing it, but you know we were also laughing and reminiscing when we were there, watching old videos of Cory dancing and our first trip to New York on a private plane and how goofy we were...I just try to think of the good memories--and there's a lot."
