If you're a fan of bands like Paramore or All Time Low, you'll love Tonight Alive, the newest Australian pop rock band to move to the US. Tonight Alive is ready to release their new album, The Other Side, on Sept. 10. We got a chance to chat with lead singer Jenna McDougall about how the band's music has evolved, their influences and her favorite song on the album.

"We're fans of artists ranging from Parkway Drive, Blink 182 and Rage Against The Machine to Alanis Morissette, Fleetwood Mac and Red Hot Chili Peppers," said Jenna. "So with such diverse taste the music we write and the way we perform is affected by a lot of different influences!"

The band spent this summer traveling across North America on Warped Tour for the second year in a row.

"It was noticeably bigger and better in every way than last year," said Jenna. "Our first Warped was an incredible experience, but to play to a passionate and excited crowd everyday this Summer was unforgettable."

Tonight Alive says their music has evolved since their last original release. For the band, it's not just about recording music, but also performing live shows and writing songs that will translate well on stage."I think the band finally found its direction. From the past two years of touring we learned about our strengths and weaknesses and applied that knowledge to the songwriting," said Jenna. "We wrote what we like to call a rock record and made it a priority to assure the songs would go down really well live."

The album is packed full of powerful pop rock tracks, including the band's singles "Lonely Girl" and "The Ocean" as well as "The Fire."

"'The Fire' is probably my favorite song on the record. It talks about the empowerment and liberation of closing the book on a dark chapter of your life," said Jenna. "The lyrics are really positive but the music is really aggressive so it speaks to me more."
