"He is over the moon to be having a son," a source tells their Confidenti@l column.
The X-Factor host once said he didn't want kids, but has clearly warmed up to the idea of daddy duty.
The 52-year-old got to see his son for the first time via a sonogram. "You literally see this thing which is now alive moving around," he marveled to Times of London. "I feel very paternal right now. So I am very happy."
Simon orignally kept mum on being a dad due to the sticky situation of Lauren still being married to his friend Andrew Silverman. The former couple has since settled their divorce and Simon and Lauren have been vacationing in Europe.
Just don't expect to see Simon losing his sarcastic edge. "I can assure you; I won't go soft," the prickly judge quipped.
