The action adventure flick, based on the book by Cassandra Clare, follows the story of Clary Fray, played by Lily Collins. When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, seemingly ordinary teenager Clary embarks on a quest to get her back. Here are five things that set The Mortal Instruments apart from other recent novels-turned-movies!
5) In the film, Clary learns that she is the descendant in a long line of half angel, half human demon-hunting warriors called "shadow hunters."
4) As a "shadow hunter," Clary is one of the "chosen." Other members of the "chosen" are Isabelle Lightwood (Jemima West) and some very cute guys, Wayland (Jamie Campbell Bower), Alec Lightwood (Kevin Zegers) and Simon Lewis (Robert Sheehan).
3) This isn't Lily's first action movie. She co-starred in with Taylor Lautner in Abduction.
2) City of Bones is first in the series of six The Mortal Instruments novels, so it's safe to say you can definitely expect sequels!
1) Want to see the movie on a really big screen? No problem! The film will also be released in IMAX theaters.
