A new report says the troubled star is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder but has made significant improvements while she's been on a mandatory holdDespite the fact that Amanda Bynes' mandatory hold in a psychiatric center was extended for 30 more days last Friday, she's actually showing signs of progress.According to TMZ, Amanda was crying last week because she was nervous about her court date, where her parents were granted temporary conservatorship, but her tears are actually a good thing.
The 27-year-old has reportedly been suffering from schizophrenia, and patients with the disorder have trouble experiencing sadness, so the fact that she can cry is an improvement. The actress has been taking a medicine cocktail prescribed by her doctors that seems to be helping her.
"Amanda has made significant improvements," a source tells Fox411's PopTarts column. "She is doing better than she was. Amanda geuninely wants to get better and has wanted to get better for some time."
They also report that she's suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of her fame and success at such a young age, and that she has deep seated conflict with her parents.
She's been hospitalized on a mandatory 5150 hold since starting a fire in a stranger's driveway on July 22.
