Nick Jonas explains why he posted a shirtless selfie on Instagram. Was it vanity? Turns out Nick was proud of his hard work and healthy lifestyle, telling Ryan Seacrest, "I just wanted to be an inspiration" to diabetics.
We don't really care why Nick Jonas posted that now infamous shirtless selfie...but we're sure thankful for it.Still, when asked by Ryan Seacrest about the pic, Nick was sure to reiterate that posting muscle pics is not really his vibe, but he had a reason for it.
Bottom line: he's proud.
And so are we.
Nick explained, "It took one day to put it up. I debated with my brothers and people in our band like, 'Should I do this?' They were like, 'You have to, you have to,' so I did it."
We've never heard of anyone taking so much time and consideration to post a selfie, but understand that Nick didn't want to come off like a...well...a douche.
Did he think it would get so much attention?
Nick said, "No, I didn't really to be honest," adding, "Like I said in the picture, I never do that, and there are a lot of people running around without their shirts on these days so I didn't want to just add to the noise, but I felt like as a diabetic its twice as hard to stay in shape...so I just wanted to be an inspiration to those people...it's been a pretty hilarious reaction."
And then there's the question of who took the pic.
Nick noted, "That was the funniest part of the reaction people trying to figure out who took it."
Turns out, it was Nick who snapped the photo, as he explained, "there is a self-timer setting on the camera app that I use, so I did that, so it was pretty funny seeing people speculate."
