While Mother Monster didn't make a big deal out of the injury, it sounds like it was much more serious than anybody even realized.
"My injury was actually a lot worse than a labral tear," Gaga told WWD. "I had broken my hip. Nobody knew and I haven't even told the fans yet."
She continued, "When we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage.
Although she continued performing in pain for quite some time, things finally reached a breaking point and Gaga was forced to abandon her tour.
"The surgeon told me if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement," she revealed. "I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer."
Yikes! Who knew things had gotten that bad?!
Of course we missed Gaga while she was gone, but we're glad that she did what she needed to and we can't wait to see her when she returns to the stage on August 25 at the VMAs!
