MTV just made the announcement on their Twitter page in a post that read: "BREAKING! #VMAs performer just announced: http://instagram.com/p/cMo8yaH9Mw/ No sleep til 8/25!"
The post linked to an Instagram video where MTV VJ Sway was standing with a crowd of people who cheered after he made the announcement.
The song Gaga will be performing is still reportedly unnamed, but there was a recent leak online of a track believed to be from the album.
