The film, okay, the "legend" of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) picks up in the '80s, when the news anchor is invited to join a 24-hour cable news channel. Ron--mustache intact--proudly proclaims in the trailer, "I'm going to do the thing that God put Ron Burgundy on earth to do: have salon quality hair and read the news!" There's even a new word coined that we love: Burgundy-er!
Ron's old San Diego news team, Brick (Steve Carell), Brian (Paul Rudd) and Champ (David Koechner), are now hanging out in NYC. Mix in a TV news "prince" (James Marsden) and Kristen Wiig as the woman Brick's been waiting for with Ron's talent for the saying the totally inappropriate, and you end up with shock and awe. Our favorite exchange in the clip comes from Steve and Kristin, as she responds to his line, "Your hair looks like wet popcorn," with "I like the parts of your face that are covered with skin."
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is slated to open December 20, 2013.
Happy holidays, indeed.
