A source tells E! News that Ed and Selena are "just friends" who met through mutual pal Taylor Swift.
E! also notes that Ed might not divulge who he's dating anyway, pointing to an interview earlier this year with Fresh 102.7, where he was asked if he was dating anyone.
He explained, "Even if I did have one [girlfriend], I wouldn't say anything anyway!"
Ed added, "Everyone knows almost everything about me. I make it very clear that I'm cool with people knowing all my personal life through my songs."
He continued, "There's stuff that you want to go home to and have a little bit of an escape, and I think if I was to ever have one I wouldn't be mentioning her every five minutes in an interview."
Rumors about an Ed and Selena hookup may have started when he was seen leaving her house with a guitar.
Of course, speculation that the pair were recording a new song together started to spread, but he cleared it up on the MuchMusic Video Awards red carpet, explaining, "I literally went to a house party at her house and I had my guitar because I had come from the airport."
