Melissa Etheridge really feels strongly about her statement that Angelina Jolie made a "fearful" choice when she opted to have a preventative double mastectomy.
"I wouldn't call it the brave choice," Melissa told the Washington Blade. "I actually think it's the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer."
Naturally, the comment set off a wave of criticism as most people seem to disagree with Melissa's sentiment and feel that Angelina's choice was extremely courageous.
Melissa, however, is standing by her controversial comment, telling ABC News, "I don't have any opinion of what she 'should have done,'" Melissa said. "All are free to choose. I only objected to the term 'brave' describing it."
As for Brad Pitt, he seemed a little shocked by Melissa's initial comment. When Extra asked him what he thought of it, he said, "Oh, I didn't know, I haven't seen her... Melissa is an old friend of mine, so I'll have to give her a call."
Brad has called Angelina's decision "heroic," so we doubt he's too thrilled about what Melissa is saying, but we give him credit for keeping it classy with his response.
What do you think of Melissa's statement?
