Brad Pitt and his fellow cast mates dished on taking down zombies at the US premiere of 'World War Z.' Brad also talked about his Father's Day and his love for playing a dad who saves the world from zombies. 'World War Z' hits theaters on Friday.Zombies took over New York City on Monday night.
Okay, so they only took over Times Square for the US premiere of Brad Pitt's latest film, World War Z.
We chatted with the cast on the red carpet to find out the best way to take down a zombie. As someone orphaned by the zombie war, Fabrizio Zacharee Guido said he would take down zombies with "a baseball bat with spikes." Mireille Enos (Brad's wife in the film) joked, "In the movie, I get to kick one in the face, and that worked pretty well."
World War Z centers around U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family, who must flee the zombie pandemic while he tries to find a way to stop it. Co-writer Drew Goddard summed up the film by saying, "With a movie like this it starts and ends with the family...So it is really a very small story told on this epic scale." Co-writer Damon Lindelof added that Brad's character, "is saving the world so that he can save his family."
Brad revealed, "I am sure that my personal fatherhood leaked into the script." He added, "What I love about this guy is he is not a superhero. He can't fly, can't fight the bad guy, and can't even run that fast, [but he] relies on his intellect and his experiences."
With all this talk about family, we had to ask Brad how he spent his Father's Day. He joked, "We were at 40,000 feet flying over here [to New York], so we had a little celebration in the air." He also admitted that his sons critique his movies. "Yeah, my boys like this one. I mean they have not seen that many of them [my films] because they are not old enough, but my two boys saw this one [World War Z] and they loved it," he said.
Unlike the London premiere in which Angelina Jolie accompanied Brad, this time he flew solo. We asked his cast mates who would be better at kicking some zombie butt, Mr. or Mrs. Smith? Abigail Hargrove, who plays Brad's oldest daughter in the film and has met Angelina said, "I would probably say Brad. Angelina is very sweet and kind of stands back and watches." David Andrews, who plays a Navy Captain in the film kidded, "I don't know. Man, I think that is a good duo. They should put them together for the sequel. The dynamic duo! Don't you think?"
World War Z hits theaters Friday.
