(She has over one million subscribers and over three hundred fifty million video views!) We got to chat with the 19-year-old over the phone and picked out our 5 must-knows about Megan.
1: Originally from Katy, Texas, Megan moved out to Los Angeles two years ago to pursue her singing dream. But that wasn't always the case, "As a kid I thought I'd be an astronaut. And as I get older, I enjoyed designing, like interior design," she told us. "But my freshman year when I picked up a guitar, I was like, 'Okay, I can't see myself doing anything else but music.'"
2: Megan needed a little push before getting herself on YouTube. "My dad was the one who encouraged me to post my first cover video. Before that I did talent shows and open mics. My first cover ever posted was 'Use Somebody' by Kings of Leon."
3: The most difficult cover she ever did also happens to be one of her favorites. "Probably the 'Lazy Song' by Bruno Mars. I had all my best friends in it and my sister was in it as well. It was a lot of fun to make, but we had to create our own dance and did it in one take."
4: She'd love to collaborate with a certain band. "Maroon 5 would be really cool to work with. I like them a lot and they were kind of an inspiration to me growing up." As a kid, Megan listened to a lot of Stevie Wonder and Al Green with her dad.
5: Megan loves covers, but she's coming out with her own album later this year! "I have a new original song, 'Summer Forever.' I wouldn't call it a dance song, but it's a good windows down, driving in your car singing' kind of song. It's fun and light hearted."
