Jennifer Hudson is coming back to American Idol.After nabbing the runner-up spot in the show's third season, the Oscar winner will return to the FOX competition series this fall as a judge, according to E! Online.
And it looks like she won't be the only Idol alum coming back for season 13.
According to the site, Kelly Clarkson is also close to signing a deal, with the third spot possibly going to Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken to round out the alum-themed judges panel.
That theme is reportedly geared towards luring back the nearly 10 million viewers who stopped watching the show in the last two years.
News of Hudson's casting comes just after NBC's Smash was cancelled, in which she guest starred as Broadway sensation Veronica Moore.
