Even gold medal winning champions have gone through rough patches before they were successful.Gabrielle Douglas wowed the world with her gymnastics skills at the London Olympics but even she wasn't exempt from bullying as she revealed to Oprah on Oprah's Next Chapter last night.
When Gabby was just 11-years-old, she felt picked on and left out at her gym in her hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She wanted to move away to a different gym--a big move she would eventually make at 14-years-old--because of the hardships she was facing.
"I felt I was being bullied and isolated from the group. Just, they treated me not how they would treat their other teammates," Gabby, with her mother by her side, told Oprah.
When Gabby was 14 she moved to an acclaimed gym in Iowa--without her family--and put in the training she needed to make the Olympic team and of course take home gold.
See more below on what Gabby told Oprah about overcoming being bullied when she was younger--and how it still didn't discourage her from ever giving up on her dream!
