This week on American Idol, the finalists performed to two different themes, "The Burt Bacharach-Hal David Songbook" and "Songs You Wish You Wrote." And one of the finalists definitely stole the show.
Closing the night with a bang was Candice Glover. She amazed the crowd with her rendition of Adele's cover of "Lovesong" by The Cure. Candice received a standing O from everyone, including the judges, and an encore chant from the crowd.
"I just lost it because I didn't expect it," Candice told us. "I expected Mariah to like it because that's what she's been asking for for the past three weeks." Considering Mariah went on stage to throw gold confetti at her after her performance, we think she more than liked it!
Randy Jackson said it was the best performance on any talent show. "I was once an American Idol reject," Candice revealed. "Just that Randy has been here all 12 seasons and he's seen me get cut and he's always been the one to fight for me. I'm just so appreciative that he gets and understands me."
Having tried out for Idol before, Candice knew she had to do something different before this season. "I lost 40 pounds," she told us. "I listened to every genre of music--Jazmine Sullivan is my favorite artist--Kim Burrell, all the way to LeAnn Rimes," Candice said about broadening her horizons.
The singer had some big shoes to fill. "I felt really nervous," she admitted. "You don't touch Adele...But I really like this song."
Last week Candice did not make the top 3, which shocked a lot of people, "It felt horrible!" she said. "When they don't call your name, you don't know what to think. This week I came out swinging, I'm not going to let that happen again."
