APRight before his big win at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Buttkicker of 2013, Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, dished with us about his latest butt-kicking adventure in the new G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The Rock's take on G.I. Joe this go around is that even though the first film [2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra] made a lot of money, "There was a better movie to be made," he tells us. "We are going to remove the lasers and the slickness of it and we are going to bring it back to respecting the mythology of G.I. Joe and add some new blood," like D.J. Cotrona as Flint and Bruce Willis as General Joe Colton.
Channing Tatum is back as Duke, the leader of the Joes, and we can only hope for an abs contest between these two buff action stars. In any case, The Rock promises that this sequel will be an "opportunity to re-launch and reboot and reignite and do it [a G.I. Joe film] the right way."
Speaking of reboots, The Rock, who is becoming a go-to guy for re-energizing film series, is rumored to be getting his own spin-off for his Fast and Furious character. He reveals, "We have collectively talked about possibly spinning [Luke Hobbs] off because he is a character that people have really enjoyed seeing, so I think it could work."
And if more new blood is needed for the next G.I. Joe? We're just throwing this out there: Retaliation's director Jon M. Chu also happened to direct Justin Beiber's Never Say Never. So to all the beliebers out there, what do you think of Justin as a future Joe?
