This girl is ready to take on the world.
Season 11 runner-up of American Idol Jessica Sanchez returned to the Idol stage to perform her new single, "Tonight" ft. Ne-Yo. Jessica told us about her upcoming album, how her life has changed and her special guest-starring role on Glee.
"It was so much fun [performing]," Jessica told us. "When I got on stage, I was like 'I'm good. Y'all can't judge me!'" Considering the whole room (including the judges) gave her a standing O, we think she did alright. "They stood up for me! And I know it's hard for them to stand up for the contestants this year."
Ne-Yo and Jessica make one strong duo. "He was a fan of mine last season!" Jessica said. "He reached out to my people and said he wanted to work with me. He co-produced the song with Stargate." Stargate has also worked with Beyonce and Rihanna.
Never did Jessica imagine her life to be what it is now. "Before Idol, I didn't do anything," she said. "I just sat at home like a regular teenager. Watched TV, played video games." But things have changed. "Now I'm traveling the world, my album [Me, You & the Music] is out for pre-order and is coming out on April 30."
Jessica recently landed a gig that could be a game-changer. "Glee! I'll be shooting next month," she gushed. "I've never acted before, by the way. I've been taking some acting classes, and I think I'm ready."
We know the singing won't be a stretch. "I'm playing a student from a rival school that's supposed to be a legendary diva powerhouse so...more ballads!" Jessica said, gleefully.
She will be featured in two episodes and is excited to work with the whole cast, but she does have one fave. "As far as meeting people, I really want to meet Santana," Jessica said. "She's got that attitude, and I love it."
And how did Jessica land the guest role on Glee? Simple. "Ryan Murphy called and was like, 'Hey, want to come on the show?' I was like 'Why not?! Let's go, let's do it.'"
