Kristen Stewart's mother is tired of living in her daughter's shadow. In fact, not many people realize that Mama Stew (aka Jules Stewart) has had a Hollywood film career going for decades longer than her uber famous daughter.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jules (we're guessing she probably doesn't want to be called "J.Stew"...) opened up about dealing with her daughter's fame and how frustrating it is for her that she isn't recognized for her own accomplishments.
"It's extremely frustrating for me, because she's 22 years old and I'm almost 60," she admits. "In terms of life experience - hello! - I have it all over her. It's not like I came out of nowhere."
She also revealed how she is struggling to find her own fame in a sea of K.Stew fans.
"To the world, I have no name.... I'm famous for being her mom," Jules tells the newspaper. "Most of the female directors that are successful in this business came up through the ranks. And I'm hoping to follow in their footsteps. I have my own career. My own thing going on. And I would hate to think that it's because of my 22-year-old that I got to direct a movie."
While we can respect Jules' individual aspirations, the fact that she put Kristen in her most recent movie (K-11) doesn't exactly support the whole separation theory.
Originally, Kristen was supposed to play a much larger role in the film, but was unable to due to her busy schedule.
Still, she had to know that Kristen having any role in the movie would rip her own name right out of the headlines, right?
Do you think Kristen's mother is really trying to make it on her own or is she using her daughter's fame to help boost her career?
