We can't resist a down-to-earth singer.
Or an exclusive video opp!
We were the only ones who got to hang out with Carly Rae Jepsen at her photo shoot for her new single, "Tonight I'm Getting Over You," and tonight, we're getting hooked on the catchy (of course) tune.
"It's a step in a new direction for me," Carly, who's known for her more fun and playful sound, says. "A little bit more serious, a little bit melancholy but at the same time really empowering."
It's definitely a song that anyone with on-and-off-again relationships can relate to. "This is that final statement of 'You know what? I can be better alone,'" says Carly.
"Tonight I'm Getting Over You" was produced by Carly's dream producer, Sweden's Max Martin, who has worked with Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. "My expectations were just blown out of the water, and they were already pretty high," she tells us.
Carly's photo shoot looks were inspired by Madonna, Stevie Knicks, Sinead O'Connor and Carly's personal favorite, Kate Bosworth.
"I do love fashion, but I think there's a time and place to really explore with it," says the 27-year-old singer. "And then there is a time and place to wear blue jeans and a sweater and enjoy that too."
We're glad to hear that Carly can still enjoy the simpler things.
